This heavily practical course will cover a number of procedures that can be carried out by the registered veterinary nurse. It is an excellent foundation for nurses who want to expand their surgical techniques and it also highlights the legal aspects on which minor surgeries are allowed to be performed - making you an invaluable part of any veterinary surgical team. This course will allow nurses to gain confidence and knowledge in the nursing aspects of dealing with surgeries including:

• Effective preparation of patients (such as clipping and scrubbing) 

• Wound management techniques including lavage, debridement and options in open wound management

• Understand the commonly used suture materials and patterns, and how these are selected

• Suturing workshop - practical hands on suturing – this does not include the use of cadavers
