About the Event
Join Georgia Woods-Lee for this great day on Nutrition.Â
Provision of an appropriate nutritional recommendation is central to providing excellent veterinary care and is an area where veterinary nurses can use their skills to the fullest.
This full day session will broadly cover three main topics. The first will look at the core nutrition skills and will include a discussion on how to perform a nutritional assessment, interpretation of the pet food label and how to maintain good compliance with the nutritional recommendation.
As pet obesity now affects over 60% of cats and dogs, part 2 will firstly look more closely at how to achieve effective weight management for all patients and will secondly consider what can be done to prevent obesity before it occurs.
Part three will take a look at the ever-changing landscape of pet foods and will discuss some of the alternative diet types that are rising in popularity. Each diet type will be evaluated and the evidence for some of the diet claims discussed alongside guidance for improving safety of feeding and how to support the pet owners feeding choices.
